Myrtle Cartwright (シェリー Shelly) is a girl in Motorville and is commonly called "Starey-Mary" (窓女 window-woman) by the people in the neighborhood due to her being a shut in who only ever stares out her window. She is the soulmate of Esther, and Oliver must help Myrtle in order to heal Esther's broken heart.

Story[]

In the beginning, she's only seen as the girl staring out the window as Phil shows Oliver the new car.

Oliver travels to Al Mamoon to talk to Rashaad, who says that he gave up magic because Shadar made Esther brokenhearted.

Oliver and Mr. Drippy travel to Oliver's world and find Esther's soul mate, named Myrtle. Her house is to the bottom-right of the shopping street in town. While trying to enter, an old woman passes by and gives some town gossip to Oliver, saying that her family has had problems lately. Oliver uses Spring Lock to open her house door, she is inside and says she is ill and can't leave the house or her dad will get mad about it she said that her father won't allow Oliver to visit her. Oliver goes to her dad's workshop to talk to him.

Rusty is suffering from a Nightmare, and Oliver is forced to fight it. Then Betty comes in, offering him food. Oliver uses Take Heart to take her kindness and Give Heart to repair Rusty's heart.

The father goes home and apologizes to his daughter for the way he acted when wasn't himself--prompting the scene in which Myrtle steps outside for the first time. Oliver uses Take Heart after this scene to get Myrtle's courage, then travels back to the other world, where he fixes Esther's heart with it. Afterward, as thanks, Rashaad takes Oliver to the Temple of Trials.

Afterward, she's seen working at Leila's Milkbar.

Later in the game, she introduces Oliver to Denny, the soul mate of Tengri the dragon.

Personality[]

Myrtle, like her soul mate, is a happy sort of girl who would do anything to help people. The only issue is that she tends to be forgetful once she starts helping (as noted by Swaine), such as when she helps Oliver locate Denny but then forgets to care for Leila's Milk Bar.

In the Japanese NDS game, she's seen as a little moody/snappy and depressed because she's always been locked inside her house. She gets better after she can go outside.

Appearance[]

Myrtle is about Oliver's age (perhaps a year or two older), has long, yellow hair that flows freely, and blue eyes. She wears a blue dress, white socks, and green slippers.

Trivia[]

  • Myrtle became the "Dairy Fairy" after helping Miss Lelia at the shop.
  • She can faintly hear when people from the other world are talking, such as Drippy (i.e. when she's prompted to talk about her original nickname when Mr. Drippy mentions "Starey-Mary").
